~ Before Hiring A Coach ~

  • Most coaches offer a complimentary session. Take them up on it, guilt free. Be honest from the beginning about your ability to pay for coaching, and what you want and need from a coach. Be sure to thank them for the time they gave you, and to let them know your decision.
  • Ask about the training they've received. There are several very good coach training programs. Ask which one they are affiliated with, and whether it is an accredited program?
  • Trust your instincts. Listen to your inner wisdom. Do you feel a connection to this person? When you talk with them during your complimentary session pay attention to how you feel throughout the call.
  • Talk to more than one coach and let them know you are interviewing others. If they are worthy of consideration they should encourage this decision.
  • If the person is pushy or pressures you to sign up as a client, beware. You do not want a coach who needs you.
  • Coaching is not the answer for everyone. Ask what commitment they require, if any.
  • Results take time. Depending upon your circumstances, and the relationship dynamics between you and your coach, you might notice instant results such as increased energy, more productivity, clearer thinking, and so on. There will also likely be plateaus. Enter the coaching partnership with reasonable expectations. Enjoy each step, even the resting space plateaus provide.
  • You will get out of coaching what you put into it. Your coach does the coaching, but you make the choices and changes.
  • If the coach offers a free newsletter sign up for it. This is a great way to learn a little about them and their style.
